Grapefruit Moon was born out of a love for stories and images — and over the course of more than thirty years, it has evolved into a world of its own. A practice where attention, imagination, and commitment are central.
Grapefruit Moon is Menno van Wees. At my core, I work alone, but rarely on my own. Often together with my wife Mandy and daughter Jasmijn, and always surrounded by a network of creators and specialists that has formed over the years. People I love to collaborate with because they share the same care and curiosity for content and form.
We work from our studio in France, from Amsterdam, and on the road. Traveling between places and projects, searching for stories that matter. Stories that demand attention, time, and a form that does justice to what needs to be told.
Grapefruit Moon moves between film, exhibitions, and education. Between creating and sharing. What connects all these forms is the desire to open something up through images — a thought, a conversation, a different way of looking.
