The 17th-century painter Matthias Withoos was internationally known and five of his eight children also painted more than meritoriously. His distant great-grandson, the Rotterdam photographer Hans Withoos (1962), is just as famous in his field as his ancestor. For the exhibition Withoos meets Withoos, he was inspired by the work of his great-great-grandfather. The result is forty surprising and incredibly exciting photographic image edits with which Hans Withoos effortlessly bridges the 350 years between two subject and blood relatives.
